Shillong, August 19 : Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma today inaugurated the newly established Computer Lab at Mawlai Presbyterian College, funded under the Chief Minister’s Development Fund (CMDF). The ₹10 lakh facility is designed to strengthen digital learning and give students access to modern technological resources.
In his address, the Chief Minister recalled that the demand for computers was raised during his earlier visit to the college and expressed satisfaction that the need has now been fulfilled. He emphasized the government’s commitment to education as a priority sector despite ongoing challenges, pledging continuous efforts to strengthen institutions and improve access to quality learning.
Sangma also announced further support for the college: ₹10 lakh for the ongoing construction of the college building. ₹3 lakh grant for purchasing musical instruments, encouraging students to balance academics with extracurricular activities. He praised the college for its service to youth and stressed the role of the church, society, and government in working together to nurture education in the state.
The program was attended by governing body members, the principal, faculty, church elders, and students, who welcomed the Chief Minister warmly and expressed appreciation for the government’s initiatives to advance education in Meghalaya.
