₹9.1 Crore Worth of Seized Narcotic Drugs Destroyed in Meghalaya

Shillong, January 29 : In a major step towards combating drug trafficking, the Meghalaya Police, under the supervision of the District Drug Disposal Committees, scientifically disposed of seized narcotic drugs worth ₹9.10 crore at Star Cement Ltd., Lumshnong, East Jaintia Hills District.

The disposal covered seized drugs from 58 NDPS cases across seven districts — East Khasi Hills, West Khasi Hills, South West Khasi Hills, Eastern West Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, West Jaintia Hills, and North Garo Hills.

According to Superintendent of Police (ANTF), Meghalaya, the following quantities of narcotics were destroyed in strict compliance with legal and environmental safety standards:

Officials stated that the disposal was not merely the destruction of harmful substances, but a strong message of collective resolve to make society free from drugs and addiction.

The action forms part of the Drug Reduction, Elimination and Action Mission (DREAM), Meghalaya, launched by the Chief Minister in 2023. Under his leadership, DREAM has evolved into a people’s movement integrating enforcement, rehabilitation, awareness and community participation.

Authorities emphasized that every gram of drugs destroyed represents lives protected, families saved and futures secured.
