Shillong, July 26 : The Meghalaya Legislative Assembly is holding the 20th Annual Conference of Commonwealth Parliamentary Association (CPA), India Region, Zone III at Shillong, Meghalaya from 28th July to 1st August, 2023. The programme will be held at the Meghalaya Legislative Assembly building at Rilbong, Shillong. The Conference will be inaugurated by Om Birla, Speaker Lok Sabha in the presence of Harivansh Narayan Singh, Deputy Chairman, Rajya Sabha.
All Speakers, Deputy Speakers from the Eight North East Region States will be attending the Conference. Leader of Opposition, Minister of Parliamentary Affairs, some Members of Parliament and MLA’s from all the Eight North East Region States have also been invited to attend the Conference.
There will be an Executive Committee Meeting of the Speakers, Deputy Speakers and Commissioner & Secretaries/Secretaries of the CPA India Region Zone III on 29th July, 2023 at 10:30 a.m at Marriott Hotel, Shillong.
There will be a Plenary Session Discussion on 29th – 30th July, 2023 on the topics:
- Natural Disasters and strategies for management with special reference to North East Region.
- Regional connectivity to bring North-East Region at par with mainland India.
The Conference is expected to be a major event for the Commonwealth Parliamentary Association in India Region, Zone III and will provide an opportunity for the Speakers, Deputy Speakers and other parliamentary dignitaries from the North East Region to discuss and deliberate on important issues pertaining to the region.
