Shillong, July 20: A 23-year-old man from Muktapur village in West Jaintia Hills district has gone missing after travelling to Karnataka in search of employment, prompting police and the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Bengaluru Unit to launch efforts to trace him.
According to police, Hill Sumer, a resident of Muktapur, lodged a missing person complaint at the Muktapur Police Patrol Post stating that her son, Kwis Sumer (23) left home on July 10 to join Sanu Lamare, also from Muktapur, who is currently residing in Karnataka. Kwis had travelled with the intention of taking up employment there.
Following the complaint, Muktapur Police alerted police stations across the country and initiated efforts to locate the missing youth.
Police said that, according to the complainant, she was able to speak with her son over the phone after he reached Bengaluru. However, all subsequent attempts to contact him have been unsuccessful. Although his mobile phone continues to ring, he has not answered any calls, and his whereabouts remain unknown.
Meanwhile, the KSU Bengaluru Unit stated in a press release that Kwis Sumer was last seen on July 13 at around 10:00 am, while travelling by train from Bengaluru to Hubballi in North Karnataka.
The KSU Bengaluru Unit has appealed to anyone with information regarding Kwis Sumer’s whereabouts to contact his family at 9233932279 or the KSU Bengaluru Unit at 7005095667.
Police investigations into the case are ongoing.
