Khliehriat, July 27 : On July 27, 2023, a team of police officers from the East Jaintia Hills District of Meghalaya arrested three drug suppliers and seized 69 kg of marijuana. The suspects, Mintu Das, Bijay Kumar Ray, and Arvind Kumar, were traveling in a Maruti Swift Dezire bearing registration number AS-04-J-0171 when they were intercepted by the police at a checking in Kongong.
The police conducted a search of the vehicle and recovered 91 packets of suspected marijuana. Preliminary testing confirmed that the substance was marijuana. The suspects were arrested and a case has been registered under the Narcotic Drugs and Psychotropic Substances (NDPS) Act.
The police are investigating the matter to trace the source of the marijuana and to identify other people involved in the drug trafficking network.
