Shillong, Apr, 8: The 5th East Khasi Hills District Wushu Championship 2026 was successfully conducted at the Laitkyrhong Sports Hall, bringing together around 150 athletes from across the district in a vibrant showcase of skill, discipline, and sportsmanship.
The championship was organized by the East Khasi Hills District Wushu Association (EKHDWA) under the aegis of the Meghalaya Wushu Association (MWA). Participants represented several affiliated clubs and institutions, including Donita Elite Warrior Martial Arts Gym (DEWMAG), Stay Strong Fitness School (SSFC), Lamphrang Combat Academy (Smit), Madanryting Martial Arts Physical Fitness Club (MMAPFC), H. Elias School (Nongthymmai), along with associated member Tribal Combat Academy (TCA).
The competition featured both Sanda (combat) and Taolu (forms), with athletes demonstrating a high standard of performance throughout the event.
In the overall team standings, Donita Elite Warrior Martial Arts Gym (DEWMAG) emerged as the Team Champion, followed by Stay Strong Fitness School (SSFC) as the 1st Runner-Up, while Madanryting Martial Arts Physical Fitness Club (MMAPFC) secured the 2nd Runner-Up position.
Individual honours were awarded to standout performers, with Wankitboklang Kharkongor named Best Player in Sanda, and Kyrshanbor R. Songthiang adjudged Best Player in Taolu. Notably, Kyrshanbor R. Songthiang has also been selected to represent India at an upcoming international Wushu event in Moscow, Russia.
The championship commenced with a welcome address by Donny R. Ranee, President of the Meghalaya Wushu Association and EKHDWA. The opening ceremony was graced by S. Rynjah, Rangbah Shnong of Laitkyrhong, as the Chief Guest, along with other distinguished guests. The closing ceremony was presided over by B. Mylliem, President, and R. Rynjah, Secretary of Laitkyrhong Sports Club, in the presence of club members and officials.
The Association congratulated all participants for their commendable performances and expressed appreciation to officials, members, and supporters for their contributions to the successful of the championship.
