Shillong, August 3 : A 70-year-old woman was robbed in her home in Umsohsun on July 29, 2023 around 6.45 pm. The suspect, a man from Mawblei, was arrested on August 1, 2023.
The woman, Janaki Toi, was at home when the suspect entered her house and assaulted her. He then stole her gold ring, ATM card, and mobile phone.
A case was registered at Sadar Police Station and the investigation was carried out. The suspect was identified and a raid was conducted at his house. During interrogation, he confessed to the crime and revealed that he had sold the stolen gold ring to a jeweler in Mairang.
The gold ring was seized and the suspect was arrested. He has been forwarded to court.
