Shillong January 6 : Meghalaya police are investigating a range of incidents, including thefts, the recovery of stolen vehicles, and separate cases of online harassment involving fake social media accounts.
- Shillong Burglary: On January 4th, Shri Rakesh Singh reported a burglary at his residence in Nongmensong Dongkamon, Shillong. An LPG cylinder, a bicycle, and a sewing machine were stolen.
- Shillong Motorcycle Theft and Recovery: On the morning of January 4th, Umang Choudhury’s motorcycle (ML-05Y-3117) was stolen from Keating Road, Shillong. The vehicle was subsequently recovered later that day in a jungle in the Ummulong area of West Jaintia Hills.
- Shillong Motorcycle Recovery: Also on January 4th, a motorcycle (ML-05AC-5137) belonging to Ronnie Khongsngi of Thembasuk, Madanrting, Shillong, was recovered from the same jungle area in Ummulong, West Jaintia Hills.
- Shillong Instagram Impersonation: A female resident of Shillong reported that on December 25, 2024, a fake Instagram account was created in her name. The account was used to send threatening messages to one of her colleagues.
- North Garo Hills Facebook Impersonation: A female resident of North Garo Hills reported that unknown individuals created a fake Facebook account using her photos and spread defamatory remarks.
