Chutwakhu Marks 100 Years of Community Spirit with CM’s Presence

Jowai, January 10 : Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma attended the Centenary Jubilee Celebration of the Chutwakhu locality in West Jaintia Hills District. He was joined by Deputy Chief Minister Snaiwbhalang Dhar and MLAs Wailadmiki Shylla and Lahkmen Rymbui.

The Chief Minister congratulated the Dorbar Chnong of Chutwakhu for reaching this 100-year milestone, acknowledging the contributions of its founding leaders and celebrating the community’s spirit in fostering growth and prosperity.

CM Sangma praised Chutwakhu for its progressive approach, noting its early encouragement of women’s leadership and participation in community welfare, dating back to 1931. He also highlighted the thriving youth organizations in the locality since 1934, emphasizing the positive impact of collaboration between men, women, and youth.

The Chief Minister stressed the importance of community strength in Meghalaya’s overall development and urged community members to collaborate with the government to further growth in the district and the state.

He also expressed his enthusiasm for the ongoing preparations for the Meghalaya Games in Jowai, calling it a historic moment for West Jaintia Hills. He emphasized that investments in sports infrastructure are investments in the state’s youth and its future.

As a gesture of support for the upcoming games, the Chief Minister handed over cheques totaling ₹21 lakhs (₹1 lakh each) to 21 sports clubs and associations in West Jaintia Hills District.

Deputy CM Dhar congratulated the community on its centenary, recognizing the dedication of its visionary leaders. He also thanked the Chief Minister for bringing the Meghalaya Games to Jaintia Hills and praised the Rangbah Shnong (village elders) for their leading role in the game’s preparations, encouraging them to set a benchmark for success.
