Shillong, February 11 : The Jawaharlal Nehru Stadium in Shillong, Meghalaya, is set to host two crucial matches for the Indian men’s national football team during the March FIFA International Window.
The Blue Tigers will face the Maldives in an international friendly on March 19th, followed by a crucial match against Bangladesh in the AFC Asian Cup Saudi Arabia 2027 Qualifiers Final Round on March 25th. Both matches will kick off at 7 PM IST.
India has been drawn in Group C of the Qualifiers, alongside Hong Kong, Singapore, and Bangladesh. The teams will compete in a home-and-away round-robin format until March 2026, with the group winners advancing to the main tournament.
The JN Stadium, with a capacity of 15,100, has undergone recent renovations and has hosted various domestic tournaments and leagues, including the Durand Cup, Indian Super League, I-League, and I-League 2nd Division. However, these upcoming matches will mark the first time the stadium hosts senior men’s international matches.
