Meghalaya Takes Organic Produce to Dubai: Vision 2028 Drive Underway

Shillong, March 18 : The Meghalaya State Agricultural Marketing Board (MSAMB) is spearheading a Market Exposure Visit to Dubai, aiming to showcase the state’s premium organic agricultural products and strengthen international trade linkages, aligning with Meghalaya’s Vision 2028.

The visit, from March 16th to 18th, 2025, is part of Meghalaya’s strategic initiative to promote its organic and natural produce in the United Arab Emirates (UAE), a key market and global trade hub. This initiative aims to empower farmers through enhanced market access and solidify Meghalaya’s presence in the global agri-business sector.

Meghalaya, known as the “Abode of Clouds,” is highlighted for its rich biodiversity, fertile lands, and focus on sustainable agriculture. With over 80% of its population engaged in agriculture, the state is promoting organic cultivation and integrating farmers into high-value global supply chains through initiatives like MSAMB, FPOs, and MOVCD-NER. The state is also making strides in sustainable tourism, attracting global visitors.

Building on the successful MoU with Lulu Group International in November 2023, facilitated by APEDA, Meghalaya is further strengthening trade relationships. The partnership has already led to the export of GI-tagged Khasi Mandarin, Pineapple, and Ginger to Dubai.

The visit aims to:

  • Strengthen trade linkages between Meghalaya and the UAE.
  • Provide farmers with exposure to global market trends.
  • Promote organic and GI-tagged products in the UAE retail sector.
  • Encourage investment in Meghalaya’s agribusiness sector.
  • Expand export opportunities and enhance farmer incomes.

The Government of Meghalaya is committed to enhancing agribusiness infrastructure, value addition, and farmer access to international markets through its “Meghalaya Collective” brand. With continued efforts in organic certification, logistics, and strategic partnerships, Meghalaya aims to become a key player in India’s global agri-export ecosystem.
