Shillong, July 18 : The Directorate of School Education & Literacy, Government of Meghalaya, has issued a public notice today, mandating all unrecognised schools in the state to obtain formal recognition within six months. This directive is in compliance with the provisions of the Right of Children to Free and Compulsory Education (RTE) Act, 2009.
The notice, signed by Banteilang J. Kharshandi, MCS, Director of School Education & Literacy, Meghalaya, states that schools currently operating without formal recognition must submit their applications by duly filling Form 1 and submitting it to their respective District School Education Officers (DSEOs).
Failure to secure recognition within the stipulated six-month timeframe will lead to the closure of the school, and it will no longer be permitted to operate. School authorities whose institutions are yet to be recognised are advised to approach their respective DSEOs at the earliest.
Furthermore, the public notice also explicitly states that no new school will be allowed to open without first obtaining prior recognition from the Government.
