Meghalaya Cricket Soars: Three Players Selected for Duleep Trophy Squad

Shillong, August 12 : In a significant boost for Meghalaya cricket, three talented players have been chosen to represent the North East Zone in the prestigious Duleep Trophy 2025-26. The announcement today comes as a testament to their exceptional performance in the previous season’s BCCI tournaments.

Batter Arpit Bhatewara, fast bowler Akash Kumar Choudhary, and left-arm orthodox spinner Aryan Borah have all secured a spot on the 15-member squad. Choudhary, a seasoned player who was also part of the team last year, has been named vice-captain, a testament to his leadership and skill.

The North East Zonal Selection Committee, which convened in Guwahati on Monday, selected a well-balanced squad based on individual performance in the 2024-25 season. The Duleep Trophy is scheduled to be held in Bengaluru from August 28 to September 15. The North East Zone team is a collective of players from Arunachal Pradesh, Manipur, Meghalaya, Mizoram, Nagaland, and Sikkim.

Adding to the state’s representation, pace bowler Dippu Sangma has been named as a standby, while the Meghalaya team’s trainer, Vikash Singh Chauhan, will serve as the North East Zone’s trainer for the tournament.

The team will participate in a pre-tournament camp in Dimapur, hosted by the Nagaland Cricket Association, from August 18-24 before departing for Bengaluru on August 25. The six North East states will equally share the expenses for the camp.
