Shillong, August 12 : Pyndengumiong Presbyterian Secondary School, established in 2001, marked a historic milestone today as it celebrated its Silver Jubilee with a grand programme on the school campus. The event was graced by Chief Minister, Conrad K. Sangma, as the Chief Guest, and Metbah Lyngdoh, Chairman of the State Planning Board, Government of Meghalaya, as the Guest of Honour. Abu Taher Mondal, Minister of Community & Rural Development Department, was also present amongst other dignitaries.
In his address, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma congratulated the school and its managing committee for completing 25 years of dedicated service in education. He commended the institution’s growth from just three students to over 500, describing it as a remarkable achievement.
He highlighted the significance of the school’s motto, “Mold and Shape the Child in God’s Image,” and stressed the importance of instilling values such as humility, kindness, and respect alongside academic excellence. The Chief Minister encouraged students to set goals, work hard, and remain rooted in moral values.
He also acknowledged the challenges faced by the education sector, particularly in supporting deficit and ad-hoc schools, and announced financial assistance of ₹15 lakh from the Chief Minister’s Special Development Fund for the extension of the school building, ₹3 lakh for the Silver Jubilee celebrations and support for providing musical instruments to the school.
Guest of Honour Metbah Lyngdoh expressed his appreciation to the school community and extended his gratitude to the Chief Minister for his continued support to the people of the district. He noted his long-standing association with the institution and reiterated his commitment to present its needs before the government.
The event concluded with a vote of thanks from P. Marbaniang, Headmistress of Pyndengumiong Presbyterian Secondary School.
The Silver Jubilee marks the start of a year-long celebration dedicated to honouring the achievements of the school and advancing its mission of academic excellence and moral development.
