Shillong, September 21 : The Shooting Association of Meghalaya (SAM) successfully organised the 2nd Inter-School Shooting Championship 2025 at the Assam Regimental Centre’s shooting ranges in Happy Valley, Shillong.
The championship drew 29 young shooters, including specially-abled participants from the hearing-impaired category, highlighting the event’s focus on inclusivity and equal opportunity. Seventeen schools from Shillong and Tura participated, including: Sherwood (Tura), APS Shillong, KV Happy Valley, All Saints Shillong, St. Edmund’s Shillong, KVS Laitkor, Synod School Jaiaw, HL Mizo SS, Laitumkhrah Presbyterian HSS, Umlynka Presbyterian School, KV Upper Shillong, St. Mary’s Shillong, St. Ann’s SS Mawpat, School & Centre for the Hearing Handicapped Children Shillong, Jyoti Sroat School, and NIOS.
The championship served as an important platform for budding shooting talents to gain competitive exposure and build confidence. It also underlined the sport’s growing popularity among Meghalaya’s youth.
During the event, the President and General Secretary of SAM expressed gratitude to the Assam Regimental Centre for their support, while stressing the need to develop shooting sports at the grassroots level.
The day concluded with a prize distribution ceremony, where winners were honoured for their skill, focus, and discipline. Special recognition was given to hearing-impaired participants, reinforcing the message of inclusivity.
