Meghalaya Extends Deadline for Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme Amid Overwhelming Response

Shillong, September 30 : The Government of Meghalaya has announced an extension of the application deadline for the Chief Minister’s Scholarship Scheme (CMSS) 2025, following an unprecedented response from students across the State.

The Education Department clarified that students availing CMSS will continue to remain eligible for the Post-Matric ST Scholarship and other Central or State scholarship schemes. Officials emphasized that applying for CMSS will not restrict or disqualify students from availing additional benefits.

In light of the overwhelming number of applicants, the government has extended the last date for submission of applications to 31st October 2025. The move is expected to ensure that more eligible students can benefit from the scheme.

Within a month of its launch, the CMSS portal has already received over 50,000 applications from students across Meghalaya, highlighting both the popularity and necessity of the scheme in supporting higher education aspirations.

The scheme is open to students from Class XI up to Ph.D. level studying in recognized institutions within and outside Meghalaya. The government has urged all eligible students to apply through the official Meghalaya One portal before the new deadline.
