ANTF Recovers Heroin from Madanriting Residence

Shillong, January 18 : In a major crackdown on drug trafficking, the Anti-Narcotics Task Force (ANTF), Meghalaya Police, conducted a successful operation at Madanriting, Shillong, leading to the recovery of suspected heroin from a residential premises.

Acting on reliable intelligence, police received information that one Anurag and his associate, identified as Abdul Aziz Barbhuiya alias Saddam, had allegedly returned from Silchar with a consignment of drugs and had concealed the substances at a residence in Madanriting.

Upon receiving the tip-off, a team of ANTF personnel swiftly launched an operation to trace the suspects and recover the contraband. After extensive efforts, the team identified the house located at Madanriting Pdengshnong, Block D, and conducted a raid.

During the search, the team recovered one off-white soap case containing suspected contraband from the kitchen of the house. Subsequent testing confirmed the substance to be heroin, weighing 8.18 grams (net weight).

All legal formalities were duly carried out at the scene, and the contraband was seized and sealed in the presence of witnesses.

Authorities have initiated further investigation to trace the source and network linked to the seized consignment. The ANTF continues its efforts to combat the growing menace of drug trafficking and substance abuse in the state.
