Tura, January 19 : In a major breakthrough, the West Garo Hills Police have arrested eight individuals in connection with the Rajabala Police Station Case No. 01/26, concerning the assault of NGO members at Goalgaon under Rajabala Police Station, which led to the death of Dilseng M. Sangma, son of Gaban Ch. Marak of Amokgre, Phulbari.
The eight accused — identified as Anarul Islam (30), Rafiqul Islam (47), Atowar Hussain (40), Ariful Islam (30), Ashadur Sk. (21), Mozidur Hussain (22), Mofidur Hussain (33), and Mozahidur Rahman (22) — were apprehended from different locations across Assam and Meghalaya following an intensive week-long operation.
All the above arrested accused have been produced before the Court, and are presently in custody for further interrogation to track down other perpetrators involved in the incident.
According to the Superintendent of Police, West Garo Hills, Abraham T. Sangma, IPS, a Special Investigation Team (SIT) has been constituted to ensure a thorough probe into the incident. The SIT will be headed by R.A. Sangma, MPS, Sub-Divisional Police Officer, Dadenggre.

The police have assured that all efforts are being made to apprehend the remaining culprits, emphasizing that “no stone shall be left unturned” in bringing those involved to justice.

The department also requested the cooperation of the general public in providing any information about suspicious movements or persons related to the case, reaffirming its commitment to ensuring law and order in the district.
