Shillong, January 22 : The Government of Meghalaya has announced the list of dignitaries who will unfurl the National Flag and take the salute during the Republic Day celebrations on January 26, 2026, at various district and sub-divisional headquarters across the State.
According to a notification issued by the General Administration Department (GAD), the Governor of Meghalaya will preside over the ceremonial parade in Shillong, while senior Ministers, MLAs, and other dignitaries will officiate the celebrations across other districts and sub-divisions.
The list of VIPs assigned to each district is as follows:
- Shillong: Governor of Meghalaya
- Nongstoin: Sniawbhalang Dhar, Deputy Chief Minister
- Nongpoh: Metbah Lyngdoh, Minister
- Jowai: Kyrmen Shylla, MLA
- Tura: Thomas A. Sangma, Speaker
- Williamnagar: Timothy D. Shira, Minister
- Baghmara: Brening A. Sangma, Minister
- Resubelpara: Marcuise N. Marak, Minister
- Mawkyrwat: Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar, MLA
- Ampati: Walad Miki Shylla, Minister
- Khliehriat: Lahkmen Rymbui, Minister
- Mairang: Methodius Dkhar, Minister
At the sub-divisional level, the following dignitaries will hoist the National Flag:
- Sohra: Sanbor Shullai, Minister
- Amlarem: Nujorki Sungoh, MLA
- Dadenggre: Limison D. Sangma, Deputy Speaker
- Pynursla: Gabriel Wahlang, MLA
- Chokpot: Sengchim N. Sangma, MLA
- Raksamgre: Marthon J. Sangma, MLA
- Mawshynrut: Ronnie V. Lyngdoh, MLA
- Ranikor: Pius Marwein, MLA
- Patharkhmah:Â Sosthenes Sohtun, Minister
- Rongjeng:Â Jim M. Sangma, MLA
- Williamnagar:Â Arbinstone B. Marak, MLA
- Dalu:Â Ian Botham K. Sangma, MLA
At the Lashkein C&RD Block (Ilam Shangpung), Santa Mary Shylla, MLA, will lead the celebrations.
The circular, signed by C.V.D. Diengdoh, IAS, Commissioner and Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, General Administration Department, instructed all concerned officials to coordinate their programmes accordingly and ensure timely intimation to the respective dignitaries.
It further advised district and sub-divisional authorities to limit expenditures in view of financial constraints and directed that, in the event of a VIP’s absence, the Deputy Commissioner, Sub-Divisional Officer, or Block Development Officer shall take the salute.
