Shillong, March 05 : North Eastern Indira Gandhi Regional Institute of Health and Medical Sciences celebrated its 16th Annual Day and Graduation Ceremony with pride and joy on March 5, 2026, marking an important milestone for graduating students from various medical disciplines.
Speaking on the occasion, Dean of NEIGRIHMS, Prof. Animesh Mishra, congratulated the graduating students and advised them to incorporate medical professionalism while serving society. He also administered the physician’s pledge to the medical students, encouraging them to uphold the values of the medical profession.
Director of NEIGRIHMS, Prof. Nalin Mehta, highlighted that Indian doctors are respected worldwide for their competency and knowledge. He urged the graduates to apply their intelligence in ethical medical practice while maintaining the dignity and autonomy of patients. Prof. Mehta expressed confidence that the graduates would serve the nation with the best healthcare practices and contribute to research in medical science.
The programme was graced by the Chief Guest, Prof. (Dr.) Vedprakash Mishra, Pro-Chancellor of Datta Meghe Institute of Higher Education & Research, who was conferred with the prestigious Oration. In his address, he highlighted the transformation of medical education in India over the past two decades and emphasized key values such as competency, confidence, concern and compassion as the foundation for achieving international standards in medical education across the country.
The chief guest, along with other dignitaries, celebrated the occasion with graduates from MBBS, Nursing, Postgraduate and Superspecialty courses during the ceremony. The event concluded with Prof. Subhash Das, Organising Secretary, delivering the vote of thanks and appreciating the efforts of the organising committee in making the programme a grand success.
