Meghalaya Launches Online Booking System for Meghalaya Houses Across India

Shillong, March 11: The Government of Meghalaya has launched an online booking system for Meghalaya Houses located across the country, marking a significant step toward digital governance and improved public services.

The digital portal was officially launched on March 11 by Sosthenes Sohtun, Minister in-charge of the General Administration Department, Government of Meghalaya, in the presence of Subir Marak, MLA of Rangsakona Constituency, along with senior officials including Sampath Kumar, Resident Commissioner of Meghalaya House, New Delhi, and Ramkumar S, Officer on Special Duty at Meghalaya House, Vellore.

The newly introduced system allows citizens and government officials to book accommodations in Meghalaya Houses located in Delhi, Mumbai, Vellore, Kolkata and Guwahati through an online platform, replacing the earlier manual and paper-based booking process.

Developed by the National Informatics Centre (NIC) Meghalaya, the portal enables users to reserve rooms, dormitories and conference halls online using an SMS-based OTP login. Applicants can also track their booking status through SMS alerts.

The platform integrates the GRAS payment gateway, allowing secure digital payments through UPI, debit and credit cards, as well as online banking, making the entire process cashless and convenient for users.

Meghalaya Houses serve as key facilities providing accommodation for government officials, students and citizens travelling for official duties, medical treatment, educational purposes and other activities.

Officials said the digital system will streamline the booking process by introducing a centralised dashboard for managing reservations, tracking occupancy, monitoring revenue and generating reports, significantly reducing administrative workload.

The initiative is expected to enhance operational efficiency and improve user convenience while enabling the government to make data-driven decisions for better management of Meghalaya House facilities.

Authorities stated that the launch of the portal reflects the state government’s commitment to leveraging technology for responsive and citizen-centric governance. The online service is now available for public use.
