BIG Futsal Fest 2026 to Kick Off in Shillong from March 17

Shillong, March 13: Shillong is set to host the second edition of the BIG Futsal Fest, an inter-office futsal tournament organised by BIG FM, from March 17 to 21, 2026 at the Thrive Sports Arena in Langkyrding.

The tournament is being organised with support from the Department of Sports & Youth Affairs, Government of Meghalaya, along with partners including Škoda (La I Jong Skoda), Royal Enfield and HDFC Bank.

The event is designed as a sporting platform for the city’s professional community, bringing together employees from government departments and corporate organisations. The initiative aims to promote teamwork, healthy competition, and community engagement beyond the workplace.

Over the five-day tournament, 16 teams from across Shillong will compete for the title of Inter-Office Futsal Champion.

Sharing his views on the event, Ashit Kukian, CEO of BIG FM, said the network believes in creating platforms that encourage community participation and shared experiences.

“BIG Futsal Fest reflects this commitment by bringing together professionals through sport. We are encouraged by the response to the first edition and look forward to hosting another competitive and spirited tournament in Shillong,” he said.

The inaugural edition of the tournament received enthusiastic participation from offices across sectors and drew considerable attention from sports enthusiasts in the city. In the first edition, the AG Meghalaya Futsal Team emerged as champions.

Organisers said the 2026 edition is expected to be bigger and more competitive, with increased participation and a vibrant sporting atmosphere for players and spectators alike. The tournament also reflects the growing interest in organised sports in Shillong while promoting health, well-being and camaraderie among working professionals.

BIG Futsal Fest continues to position itself as a platform that brings Shillong’s professional community together through sports and strengthens the culture of organised sporting events in the region.
