Night Curfew from 6 PM to 6 AM Imposed in West Garo Hills District

Tura, March 19 : The District Magistrate of West Garo Hills has imposed a night curfew across the district under Section 163 of the Bharatiya Nagarik Suraksha Sanhita (BNSS), citing concerns over the prevailing law and order situation.

According to the official order issued by District Magistrate Vibhor Aggarwal, IAS, the curfew will be in force daily from 6:00 PM to 6:00 AM across the entire jurisdiction of West Garo Hills District until further orders.

The administration stated that the decision was taken following reports of violence and disturbances to public peace in various parts of the district, which pose a serious threat to human life, public safety, and property.

Officials noted that, based on assessments by law enforcement agencies, stringent preventive measures are necessary to restore normalcy and prevent further escalation of violence.

During the curfew hours, no person will be allowed to move outside their residence within the district limits.

All law enforcement agencies, including Executive Magistrates and police personnel, have been directed to strictly enforce the curfew order and take necessary action against violators.

The order further states that any violation will attract penal action under Section 223 of the Bharatiya Nyaya Sanhita (BNS) and other relevant provisions of law.

Authorities have clarified that the order has been issued on an urgent basis in view of the serious threat to public order, and will remain in effect until further notice.
