FAKE AI-GENERATED IMAGE OF SENIOR CITIZEN ARREST GOES VIRAL, POLICE ISSUE CLARIFICATION

Tura, March 19: The West Garo Hills District Police have issued a clarification regarding a viral image circulating on social media, particularly Facebook, which allegedly shows a senior citizen from Tura, who is also associated with an NGO, being handcuffed and escorted by police.

According to the police, no such arrest has been made. Authorities have confirmed that the image in question is AI-generated and completely fake, and does not depict any real incident.

Police officials stated that the image has been circulated with malafide intent to mislead the public and potentially aggravate the ongoing law and order situation in the district.

The West Garo Hills District Police have urged the general public to refrain from believing or forwarding such unverified information. Citizens are advised to verify the authenticity of any content, including images and videos, before sharing them on social media platforms.

The police have also appealed to residents to cooperate in identifying and reporting instances of fake news or misinformation. Any relevant information can be shared with the nearest Police Station, Outpost, Beat House, or the Police Control Room (PCR) in Tura.
