Shillong, March 24: In a major boost to employment opportunities for youth in the region, IndiGo Airlines conducted a walk-in campus recruitment drive for Cabin Crew positions in Shillong, selecting five candidates, including three from the Khasi community. The recruitment was held at the Don Bosco Youth Centre, Laitumkhrah, in collaboration with Emporium Skills Training Institute (ESTI). A total of 56 female candidates from across the North East participated in the selection process.
Following multiple rounds of assessment, five candidates were selected: Deilana Shallam, Mahi Sah, Cassandra War, Silveris Mary Lyndem and Ritika. The selection marks a significant achievement for local youth aspiring to enter the aviation industry.
This is the second time the Don Bosco Youth Centre has hosted a direct Cabin Crew recruitment drive with ESTI, highlighting increasing confidence among major industry players in the Centre’s training capabilities. The initiative stems from a Memorandum of Understanding (MoU) signed in September 2025, aimed at providing employment-linked training in aviation, hospitality, and international cruise services.
Officials informed that this was the fourth campus interview conducted under the agreement, with more recruitment drives planned in the coming months involving both national and international companies.
The Don Bosco Youth Centre has emerged as a key hub for skill development and employment generation in Meghalaya. Through its partnership with ESTI, the Centre continues to equip youth with industry-relevant skills and facilitate job placements both in India and abroad. The ongoing initiative is expected to open doors for employment opportunities in over 20 countries, strengthening pathways for the region’s educated unemployed youth.
