Shillong, March 26: The Basketball Federation of India (BFI) has nominated a Meghalaya official as Team Manager for the Indian U18 Men’s and Women’s National Basketball Teams ahead of the upcoming international tournament.
The Indian U18 teams will take part in the FIBA U18 Asia Cup – SABA U18 Qualifiers 2026, scheduled to be held in Sri Lanka from May 6 to May 10, 2026.
BFI Secretary General Kulvinder Singh Gill informed that Wanlambok Iawphniaw, Secretary of the Meghalaya Basketball Association, has been nominated as Team Manager for both the men’s and women’s teams.
The Federation will bear all expenses related to his participation, including airfare, local travel, boarding, and lodging during the championship.
BFI has requested Iawphniaw to formally accept the nomination at the earliest to facilitate his reporting to the national coaching camp ahead of the tournament.
The nomination marks a significant recognition for Meghalaya in national basketball, with representation at an international-level competition.
