Shillong, March 30 : The Government of Meghalaya has declared a local holiday on April 13, 2026, in East Khasi Hills district on account of the traditional festival Shad Suk Mynsiem.
As per an official order issued by the General Administration (A) Department, all State Government offices, Revenue and Magistrial Courts, and educational institutions in the district will remain closed on the day.
The order clarified that the holiday will not apply to Central Government offices, which will function as usual.
Shad Suk Mynsiem is one of the most important cultural festivals of the Khasi community, celebrated with traditional dances and rituals symbolising peace, prosperity, and gratitude.
