Shillong, April 01: In a significant recognition of its service and dedication, Meghalaya Police has been awarded the prestigious President of India’s Police Colour. The honour was conferred by the Ministry of Home Affairs, Government of India, acknowledging the force’s exemplary performance, professionalism, and steadfast commitment to duty.
The President’s Police Colour is one of the highest honours bestowed upon a police force in the country. It symbolises national recognition of sustained dedication, courage, and integrity demonstrated by officers and personnel in maintaining law and order.
Over the years, Meghalaya Police has played a crucial role in ensuring peace and public order across the state. The force has effectively tackled crime and addressed militancy-related challenges with resilience and professionalism. It has also made notable progress in promoting gender inclusion and has received numerous gallantry and service medals, reflecting both individual and collective excellence.
The department has further demonstrated strong capabilities in disaster management, including timely search and rescue operations during natural calamities, helping safeguard lives and property. In response to evolving security challenges, it has strengthened its institutional framework by establishing specialised units such as the Cyber Crime branch and Anti-Terror Squad.
Describing the award as a moment of pride, the Director General of Police expressed gratitude to the government for its continued support and to the people of Meghalaya for their trust and cooperation. She emphasised that public partnership remains vital in maintaining peace and security in the state.
Congratulating all officers and personnel, the DGP noted that the honour also brings added responsibility to uphold the highest standards of professionalism, integrity, and public service.
