Shillong, April 06: A 10-year-old boy died on the spot after the bicycle he was riding along with a friend rammed into the rear of a pickup truck at Jaïaw Langsning, Shillong.
According to information received, the deceased boy was a resident of Dymmiew, Sngithiang Mawprem, Shillong. The incident occurred on Monday evening near Mahari & Son Petrol Pump at Jaïaw Langsning.
Sources said the accident took place around 5:30 PM when the pickup truck bearing registration number ML05 AA-9263, which was transporting pipes, was entering the petrol pump. At that moment, the boy riding the bicycle crashed into the rear tyre of the vehicle.
Police who arrived at the scene immediately rushed the boy to H. Gordon Roberts Hospital, Shillong, but doctors declared him brought dead. It was further reported that the boy’s friend, who was riding with him on the bicycle, managed to escape with minor injuries after jumping off just before the collision occurred.
