Shillong, April 13: Bethany Hospitals has achieved a significant milestone with the election of its Medical Superintendent, Dr. Rebekah L. I. Kharsaithiang, to the Governing Body of the Consortium of Accredited Healthcare Organizations (CAHO) as the Zonal Representative for the Northeast Zone – Healthcare Division.
The election took place during the prestigious CAHOCON 2026, held on April 11–12 at the Chennai Trade Centre. The 10th edition of CAHOCON was notable for also hosting the first South Asia Regional Conference of the International Society for Quality in Health Care, drawing global attention to India’s growing role in enhancing healthcare quality and patient safety.
Organised by CAHO, the conference witnessed participation from over 2,500 delegates, including healthcare professionals, policymakers, and institutional leaders from across India and abroad. The event was inaugurated by former Vice President M. Venkaiah Naidu.
Welcoming the achievement, Dr. Kyntiewlang Sanmiet, Administrative Officer, Quality Head and Spokesperson of Bethany Hospitals, Shillong, stated that the election reflects both Dr. Kharsaithiang’s professional excellence and the institution’s continued commitment to quality, safety, and patient-centric care.
He further expressed confidence that her leadership will play a vital role in advancing healthcare standards at both regional and national levels.
