Shillong, April 21 : The Government of Meghalaya marked World Creativity and Innovation Day by hosting “PRIME IGNITE 2026,” a major initiative aimed at strengthening the State’s entrepreneurial ecosystem and supporting local innovators.
The event, organised by PRIME Meghalaya at Durbar Hall, Lok Bhavan, brought together entrepreneurs, officials, and innovators to showcase creativity and launch key initiatives designed to empower the enterprise community.
A major highlight of the programme was the launch of the ‘PRIME Annual Booklet,’ documenting a year of achievements, partnerships, and impact within the PRIME ecosystem. The event also honoured winners of the ‘PRIME Student Ambassador Contest,’ recognising young talent and encouraging grassroots entrepreneurship.
Addressing the gathering, Dr. Mazel Ampareen Lyngdoh, Adviser to the Government of Meghalaya, emphasised that innovation is driven by citizens, with the government playing a supportive role in nurturing ideas from inception to market. She highlighted that under CM ELEVATE, 2,847 entrepreneurs have been initiated, over 885 entities funded, and 1,350 startups registered under PRIME.
Director of the Meghalaya Institute of Entrepreneurship, D D Shira, in his keynote address, underlined the importance of innovation in addressing global challenges and noted that PRIME has significantly contributed to empowering local entrepreneurs through mentorship, financial support, and market linkages.
The event also witnessed the launch of three key digital initiatives — the PRIME Digital Service Providers Platform (DSPP) to streamline service delivery, the Ekanbha website to support artisans with disabilities through e-commerce, and the ONG YI Delivery App, Upper Shillong’s first home delivery platform.
Innovators across sectors showcased their work, including student-led projects, healthcare manufacturing solutions, and advanced technology services in GIS, IT, and IoT.
The programme concluded with a strong message reaffirming the State government’s commitment to fostering innovation, entrepreneurship, and inclusive economic growth across Meghalaya.
