Khliehriat, May 2 : Authorities in East Jaintia Hills have issued a public notice seeking information about a newborn baby girl found abandoned in the Pther area of Umpleng.
According to the District Child Protection Unit (DCPU), the infant was discovered on April 29, 2026, at around 9:30 PM and is currently under the care and protection of the Child Welfare Committee (CWC), East Jaintia Hills District.
Officials have appealed to any person or relatives who may have information regarding the identity or background of the child to come forward and contact the DCPU or the Child Welfare Committee office in Khliehriat within 60 days.
Authorities stated that if no valid claims are made within the stipulated period, the child will be declared legally free for adoption as per the provisions of law.
The administration has urged the public to cooperate in ensuring the child’s welfare and rightful identification.
