Traffic Diversions Announced in Shillong for NEC Plenary Meeting

Shillong, June 3: Shillong Traffic Police have announced a series of traffic restrictions and diversion routes in connection with the North Eastern Council (NEC) Plenary Meeting scheduled to be held in the city on June 4.

According to the advisory, several key junctions will be designated as no-entry points, with vehicles being diverted through alternate routes to ensure smooth movement and security arrangements during the high-level event.

From 7:00 AM on June 4 until further orders, vehicles approaching from Lower Lachumiere and St. Anthony’s College towards Gurudwara Junction will be diverted via St. Anthony’s College and AIR Junction. Similarly, vehicles proceeding from CS Junction towards YWCA Junction will be diverted through Pinewood Junction.

Traffic restrictions will also be imposed at Pinewood Junction, where vehicles travelling from Raj Bhavan towards CS Junction will be diverted through Bivar Road.

Additional restrictions will come into effect from 8:30 AM on June 4 until further orders. Vehicles approaching Matri Mandir Junction from CRPF Junction will be diverted towards Fourth Furlong, while traffic from Polo and B.K. Bajoria heading towards Fourth Furlong Point will be redirected through B.K. Bajoria Junction.

At B.K. Bajoria Junction, vehicles travelling from NEEPCO side will be diverted towards Shillong Commerce College and beyond. Traffic coming from Bivar Road towards BSNL Quarter Junction will be redirected through Oakland and Polo.

Shillong Traffic Police have urged commuters to cooperate with authorities, follow traffic directions, and plan their journeys accordingly to avoid inconvenience.

The restrictions will remain in force until withdrawn by the authorities.
