East Khasi Hills Administration Advises Travellers to Avoid Shillong–Pynursla–Dawki Road

Shillong, June 12: The East Khasi Hills District Administration has advised tourists, visitors and commuters to avoid travelling through the Shillong–Pynursla–Dawki road until further notice due to the high risk of landslides, falling rocks and road blockages caused by ongoing road construction activities along the route.

In an advisory issued by the Office of the Deputy Commissioner, East Khasi Hills District, the administration stated that travellers heading towards Dawki and adjoining tourist destinations should instead use the alternative route via ShillongJowaiAmlaremDawki, which is currently considered a safer option.

The advisory urged all travellers to avoid unnecessary journeys through the Shillong–Pynursla–Dawki road, follow directions issued by local authorities and traffic personnel, check weather forecasts and road conditions before commencing travel, and exercise caution during periods of heavy rainfall.

The administration further informed that people requiring assistance during any disaster or emergency situation may contact the emergency helpline 112.

The advisory was issued by the Deputy Commissioner and Chairperson of the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills District, in the interest of public safety and to prevent any untoward incidents along the Shillong–Dawki road.
