Shillong, June 14: Two young persons, a man and a woman, were found hanging inside a shed at Lumsohphoh along the Shillong–Jowai Road on Sunday morning, police said.
According to reports, the incident came to light at around 7:00 am when the bodies were discovered. The deceased have been identified as Pronome Hajong (22) of Balat in South West Khasi Hills district and Semanto Hajong (21) of Ranikor in South West Khasi Hills district.
Police rushed to the spot and recovered the bodies, which were later shifted to NEIGRIHMS, Shillong, for post-mortem examination.
Preliminary findings from the inquest suggest that the case appears to be one of suicide. However, officials said the exact cause of death will be confirmed after the post-mortem report is received.
A case of Unnatural Death (UD) has been registered at Laitumkhrah Police Station, and further investigation is underway.
