Shillong, July, 21: The Bharatiya Janata Party (BJP) Meghalaya on Tuesday has welcomed what it described as the Central Government’s “zero-tolerance” approach towards the NEET paper leak, stating that strict action has been taken to protect the integrity of national-level examinations.
In a press release, BJP Meghalaya State General Secretary Wankitbok Pohshna said the Centre had made it clear that those responsible for the irregularities would not be spared and that the integrity of national examinations remained non-negotiable.
The party said a swift crackdown by investigative agencies resulted in the arrest of 13 accused, which it claimed demonstrated the Centre’s commitment to speed, accountability and transparency.
According to the BJP Meghalaya, the Government also ensured that the re-examination was conducted smoothly and that the results were declared promptly in the interest of lakhs of students.
The party further highlighted the introduction of stricter legal provisions, including the Public Examinations (Prevention of Unfair Means) Act, along with stronger safeguards aimed at preventing future examination leaks, strengthening digital security and modernising examination administration.
The BJP Meghalaya also contrasted the Centre’s response to the NEET controversy with the previous UPA regime, alleging that repeated examination irregularities and recruitment scams during that period were met with slow responses and inadequate deterrence.
The party reiterated that safeguarding the future of India’s youth remained a top priority and expressed hope that the Centre would continue to strengthen institutional mechanisms, deploy advanced technology and ensure that national examinations remain fair, secure and transparent.
