Shillong, August 14: The Meghalaya Government has announced the list of dignitaries who will hoist the National Flag and take the salute at ceremonial parades across the State on August 15, 2026, as part of the Independence Day celebrations.
According to the list issued by the Commissioner & Secretary to the Government of Meghalaya, General Administration Department, Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma will hoist the National Flag in Shillong.
At the district headquarters, Cabinet Minister Timothy D. Shira will hoist the flag at Nongstoin, while Cabinet Minister Marcuise N. Marak will officiate at Nongpoh. Meghalaya Legislative Assembly Speaker Thomas A. Sangma will take part in the ceremony at Jowai.
Cabinet Minister Lahkmen Rymbui will hoist the National Flag at Tura, while Deputy Chief Minister Sniawbhalang Dhar will officiate at Williamnagar. MLA Damanbait Lamare will take the salute at Baghmara.
Deputy Chief Minister Prestone Tynsong will hoist the flag at Resubelpara, while Cabinet Minister Brening A. Sangmawill officiate at Mawkyrwat. MLA Renikton Lyngdoh Tongkhar will hoist the flag at Ampati.
At Khliehriat, Cabinet Minister Wailadmiki Shylla will take part in the Independence Day ceremony, while Cabinet Minister Metbah Lyngdoh will hoist the National Flag at Mairang.
At the sub-divisional headquarters, Cabinet Minister Sanbor Shullai will officiate at Sohra, while MLA Nujorki Sungohwill hoist the flag at Amlarem.
MLA Jim M. Sangma will take part in the ceremony at Dadenggre, MLA Charles Marngar at Pynursla and MLA Ian Botham K. Sangma at Chokpot.
Deputy Speaker Limison D. Sangma will hoist the National Flag at Raksamgre, while MLA Dr. Celestine Lyngdoh will officiate at Mawshynrut.
MLA Shakliar Warjri will hoist the flag at Ranikor, Gavin Miguel Mylliem at Patharkhmah, Arbinstone B. Marak at Rongjeng, Rupert Momin at Jengjal and Subir Marak at Dalu.
At the C&RD Block level, Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, MLA, will hoist the National Flag at Hima Shangpung under Laskein C&RD Block.
The designated dignitaries will also take the salute at the respective ceremonial parades as Meghalaya joins the rest of the country in celebrating Independence Day on August 15.
