KSU Shillong Mihngi Circle President Banjoplang Dkhar arrested

Shillong, September 12: East Khasi Hills police on Friday arrested Banjoplang Dkhar, president of the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) Shillong Mihngi Circle, in connection with the incidents that occurred during the KSU’s black-flag rally in Shillong on August 19.

According to the KSU, Dkhar was arrested from the NEIGRIHMS area at Mawdiangdiang. He was subsequently taken to court, where his family and KSU members were seen waiting outside to meet him.

His arrest is linked to the incidents that took place during the KSU’s black-flag rally held in Shillong on August 19, 2026.

With Dkhar’s arrest, the number of KSU leaders and members arrested in connection with the August 19 incidents has risen to six. Among them are four CEC leaders—KSU president Raymond Kharjana, vice-president Pynkmenlang Sanmiet, general secretary Reuben A. Najiar and assistant organising secretary Jeremiah Pohthmi.

Police had also recently arrested Samuel Kharbani, secretary of the KSU Shillong Mihngi Circle, after he appeared before Sadar Police Station in connection with the KSU’s locking of a temple constructed on the premises of the CBI office at New Shillong.
