Shillong, September 14: Athletes representing the Meghalaya Body Builders’ Association (MBBA) secured two bronze medals at the 2nd North East Body Building Championships affiliated to the Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IBBFF), held at Kohima, Nagaland, on September 11 and 12, 2026.
Vikas Chettri won a bronze medal in the above-80 kg category, while Taichang K Marak secured another bronze in the 70 kg category.
In the Women’s Model Physique category, Dr Mebanrilin Synnah finished fourth in the open category. Shano Chelsy M Sangma also represented Meghalaya in the Women’s Model Physique category.
The championship was organised by the Nagaland Bodybuilding and Fitness Association (NBBFA) under the aegis of the Indian Bodybuilding and Fitness Federation (IBBFF) and the Northeast Bodybuilding Federation (NEBBF).
The championship featured nine categories across three divisions. Men’s Bodybuilding comprised six weight categories—up to 55 kg, 60 kg, 65 kg, 70 kg, 75 kg, and 80 kg and above. Men’s Sports Physique featured two height categories, up to 165 cm and above 165 cm, while Women’s Model Physique was conducted as an open category.
Councillor of Ward 19, Kohima, Medoviu Martin Suohu, attended the event as the special guest, while IGP (Armed Battalion-NAP) Imnalensa, IPS, was the guest of honour.
