Shillong, September 21: Members of the Hynñiewtrep Integrated Territorial Organization (HITO), Ri-Bhoi District, on Monday handed over the owner of RR Assam Hotel, located along the Shillong Bypass at Bhoirymbong, Khapmara, to the police following allegations that he had allegedly harassed and troubled two Khasi women working at the hotel.
According to HITO, the two women had complained that the hotel owner, identified as Rahul, had allegedly behaved inappropriately towards them and repeatedly harassed them.
HITO members accompanied the two women to the Khapmara PIC, where they reportedly filed an FIR against the hotel owner, urging the police to take appropriate action in accordance with the law.
The two women also submitted a video recording allegedly made on September 19, 2026, which they said could serve as evidence in the investigation. HITO stated that it would stand by the alleged victims and extend assistance to them until they receive justice through due legal process.
