Shillong, Sept 24: The third Shillong Book Fair will begin at the State Central Library on September 25, bringing together more than 80 book stalls offering publications across different subjects, languages and genres.
The seven-day fair, which will continue until October 1, is being organised by the National Book Trust, India, under the Union Ministry of Education, in collaboration with Meghalaya’s Department of Arts and Culture.
Arts and Culture Minister Sanbor Shullai will inaugurate the fair on September 25.
The event will remain open daily from 11 am to 7 pm. Entry will be free, while visitors will receive a 10 per cent discount on books.
According to the organisers, the fair will provide students, educators, families and book lovers with an opportunity to explore and purchase a wide variety of publications while promoting a reading culture in the region.
The Shillong Book Fair forms part of the National Book Trust’s efforts to bring books closer to communities and expand access to diverse reading materials across the country.
The previous edition was held at the State Central Library from October 5 to 13, 2024, and featured books in different Indian languages and genres.
