Shillong, September 24: A special NDPS court in East Khasi Hills has sentenced three persons to four years’ rigorous imprisonment in connection with a 2024 case registered at Mawlai Police Station.
According to a press release issued by the Office of the Superintendent of Police, East Khasi Hills, the court of Special Judge (NDPS) E. Shabong convicted Dinald Syndor, Kitboklang Thawori and Ryngkatlang Kharbuli on September 15, 2026.
The conviction relates to Crl. (NDPS) No. 20/2024, arising out of Mawlai Police Station Case No. 16(02)2024, registered under Section 21(b)/29 of the NDPS Act. The court sentenced each of the three convicts to four years’ rigorous imprisonment and imposed a fine of Rs 40,000 each for offences under Sections 21(b), 27(a) and 29 of the NDPS Act.
In case of failure to pay the fine, each convict will have to undergo an additional three months of rigorous imprisonment. Police said the case was investigated by SI Iaishah Ksoo, who is presently posted in West Jaintia Hills District.
