Shillong, September 25: The Meghalaya Programme for Adolescent Wellbeing, Empowerment and Resilience (MPOWER) has partnered with the CK-12 Foundation to introduce digital and interactive learning in 31 government and government-aided schools across East Khasi Hills. The schools, comprising institutions from rural and urban areas, will participate in the pilot phase of the programme. The initiative will assess how digital and blended learning can be effectively integrated into different school environments.
As part of the programme, 47 teachers and four school principals from East Khasi Hills have been trained in digital learning practices. The training introduced them to the CK-12 Learning Platform, its interactive resources and its practical classroom applications. The initiative will provide digital learning materials in Mathematics and Science for students from Classes VI to XII. Students will have access to interactive and adaptive content, enabling them to learn and practise at their own pace.
MPOWER Project Director Sampath Kumar said technology could make education more accessible, engaging and student-centred. “Our collaboration with CK-12 under the MPOWER initiative will help bring interactive digital resources closer to students and teachers while complementing the efforts of our educators,” he said.
CK-12 Foundation co-founder and Chief Technology and Product Officer Miral Shah said the organisation was committed to making high-quality and personalised education accessible to every student. The platform includes “Flexi,” an artificial intelligence-powered tutor designed to provide students with step-by-step guidance and personalised learning support.
Teachers will also be able to use AI-powered tools and data-based insights to prepare learning activities, identify areas where students require additional assistance and provide targeted support. The initiative is being implemented in partnership with the Meghalaya Education Department, which will facilitate the participation of the selected schools.
MPOWER will ensure that participating institutions have the necessary information and communication technology infrastructure, including devices and internet connectivity. It will also monitor and evaluate the implementation and outcomes of the programme. The pilot is expected to strengthen students’ understanding and improve learning outcomes in Mathematics and Science while helping teachers integrate digital resources into regular classroom instruction.
The partnership is part of efforts to build a stronger digital education ecosystem in Meghalaya and make technology a practical component of everyday teaching and learning.
