Shillong, September 29: Confusion prevailed among job aspirants at the Deputy Commissioner’s office in Nongstoiñ on Tuesday after a personal interview for the post of Staff Nurse was reportedly halted following the entry of Nongstoiñ MDC Dr. Juristman Iawphniaw, accompanied by an associate, into the interview room. The incident occurred while candidates who had cleared the written examination were waiting to appear for the personal interview at the Conference Hall of the DC’s office.
According to some candidates present at the venue, the interview was interrupted after four candidates had already been interviewed by Deputy Commissioner Hema Nayak. The sudden suspension of the process left several candidates confused and uncertain over whether the interview would continue and what would happen to the recruitment exercise.
District authorities said around 60 candidates were waiting to appear for the interview. The recruitment was reportedly for a contractual Staff Nurse post for a period of six months, with all candidates who had cleared the written examination eligible for the personal interview. It was learnt that the Deputy Commissioner did not agree with the manner in which the proceedings were interrupted and asked the MLA-MDC and his associate to leave the interview room. They were subsequently called to the Deputy Commissioner’s office for a discussion.
There were no reported complaints from candidates alleging irregularities in the interview process before the interruption, nor was there any reported complaint against the department or district administration in connection with the recruitment. The reason for the intervention and the subsequent status of the interview process were not immediately clear.
