Shillong, October 2: A young man, believed to be around 18 to 19 years old, was found hanging from a building at Khyndailad in Police Bazaar, Shillong, on Friday. The deceased has been identified as Sajan Barman, a resident of Bendal, Borsora in South West Khasi Hills district.
According to a press release issued by the Directorate of Civil Defence and Home Guards, personnel of the State Disaster Response Force (SDRF) assisted in recovering the body after receiving information about the incident from the District Disaster Management Authority (DDMA), East Khasi Hills.
Personnel of the 1st SDRF Battalion based at Mawdiangdiang rushed to the spot at around 10:45 am and reached the location at approximately 11:20 am. After assessing the situation, the SDRF team secured the body using ropes and carefully lowered it to the ground. The body was then handed over to police personnel present at the site for further necessary action.
According to information received by the SDRF, the deceased was believed to be Sajan Barman, aged around 18–19 years, from Bendal village in the Borsora area of South West Khasi Hills district. Police are expected to conduct further investigation into the circumstances surrounding the death.
