Shillong, October 6: Meghalaya Chief Minister Conrad K. Sangma on Tuesday announced that the state government has decided to constitute the Sixth Pay Commission, with the formal notification expected to be issued within the next one to two weeks.
In a statement, Sangma said the process for setting up the commission has already begun. “We are very happy to inform everyone that we have finally decided that the Sixth Pay Commission committee will be constituted. The process has started,” the Chief Minister said.
He said preliminary discussions regarding the composition of the commission have already been held and that the appointment of its chairman and members is now awaiting completion of procedural formalities. “I expect that maybe in a week or a couple of weeks we should be able to formally announce the chairman of the committee as well as the members. We have already had the preliminary discussion and it is only a matter of procedure,” Sangma said.
The Chief Minister added that the government expects to issue the formal notification constituting the commission shortly. “Very soon, as I said, maybe in a week’s time or two weeks’ time, the notification of the commission will be out,” he said.
