Shillong, August 3 : On August 3, 2023, vigilant troops of 172 Bn BSF Meghalaya foiled an attempt to smuggle two cattle heads to Bangladesh through the bordering area of East Jaintia Hills.
The alto vehicles carrying the cattle were intercepted by BSF troops deployed at Sonapur Bridge. The drivers of the vehicles tried to escape but were chased by the BSF and the vehicles were eventually seized. The cattle were found in an extremely pitiable condition.
The seized cattle and vehicles were handed over to Police post Umkiang for further legal action.
