29 MEGHALAYA DOCTORS RECEIVE SPECIALIZED TRAINING IN CHENNAI

Shillong, August 12 : The Government of Meghalaya and Tamil Nadu jointly organized a valedictory ceremony at Kasturba Gandhi Hospital in Chennai to honor the accomplishments of 29 doctors from Meghalaya on August 9, 2023. These medical officers have successfully completed an intensive 6-month specialized training in Comprehensive Emergency Obstetrics Care (CEmOC), Ultrasonography, and Life Saving Anaesthetic Skills.

The event was graced by the presence of distinguished dignitaries, including Thiru. Ma Subramanian, Health Minister of Tamil Nadu, and Dr. M. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Health Minister of Meghalaya. Symbolizing the unity of purpose, the event commenced with a ceremonial lighting of the Kuthuvilaku by the Health Ministers of both states. This act symbolized the illumination of healthcare advancements through cooperation.

Addressing the esteemed gathering, Dr. Ampareen Lyngdoh, Health Minister of Meghalaya, articulated the driving force behind this collaboration, “This initiative emerged from the recognition that Community Health Centres in the State are to be converted to First Referral Units, providing quality healthcare services to the citizens of Meghalaya. The training of 29 dedicated doctors in Comprehensive Emergency Obstetric Care (CEmOC), Ultrasonography, and Life Saving Anaesthetic Skills was a strategic step to offer specialized care, promote institutional deliveries, encourage health-seeking behavior, and ultimately enhance the health indicators. The partnership was made possible through the generous support of Tamil Nadu, a state renowned for its commendable healthcare standards.”
