AASU AND KSU CONDEMN STOPPING OF ASSAM VEHICLES IN MEGHALAYA

Shillong/Guwahati, July 27 : The All Assam Students’ Union (AASU) and the Khasi Students’ Union (KSU) have expressed deep concern over the alleged stopping of tourist vehicles from Assam at various points in Meghalaya.

In a joint press release, the student bodies stated that they have received reports of tourists and commercial vehicles from Assam being denied entry into the state. However, the KSU clarified that it has not issued any such directive and that tourists from Assam are welcome in Meghalaya.

Both AASU and KSU emphasized the strong historical ties between Assam and Meghalaya and called for a cordial relationship between the two states. They urged the governments of Assam and Meghalaya to hold discussions to resolve the issue permanently.

The student leaders stressed the need for maintaining a spirit of common understanding between the tourist taxi associations of both states. The KSU has pledged to take proactive steps to address the matter.

AASU and KSU have a history of cooperation in addressing common challenges, including the issue of illegal immigration. They reaffirmed their commitment to strengthening the bond between the people of Assam and Meghalaya.
