Amit Shah’s Shillong Visit Cancelled; President’s Colour Ceremony Postponed

Shillong, October 3: Union Home and Cooperation Minister Amit Shah’s scheduled two-day visit to Meghalaya on October 4 and 5 has been cancelled, with the President’s Colour Presentation Ceremony of the Meghalaya Police also called off for the time being. The exact reason for the cancellation of Shah’s visit has not yet been officially disclosed. (Meghalaya News 24)

Shah was scheduled to arrive in Shillong on October 4 and attend the prestigious President’s Colour Presentation Ceremony at the J.N. Stadium on October 5. Extensive security and traffic arrangements had earlier been put in place for his visit. (The Times of India)

In a press release issued on October 3, Meghalaya Police announced that the President’s Colour Presentation Ceremony scheduled for Monday, October 5, at J.N. Stadium, Shillong, “stands cancelled due to unavoidable circumstances.”

The police requested dignitaries, officers, members of the media and the general public who had been invited to the ceremony to take note of the cancellation.

Meghalaya Police said a new date for the ceremony will be announced in due course and expressed regret over the inconvenience caused.

The ceremony was expected to be a major milestone for the Meghalaya Police, with Shah scheduled to present the President’s Colour to the force in recognition of its distinguished service.
